Kentucky Oaks & Derby Media Advisory

For Kentucky Oaks (May 3) and Kentucky Derby (May 4) days, media must use the designated media entrances at Gates 1, 10 and 17. One turnstile at each gate is reserved for media, employees and sponsors and should allow quick access to the track. You may bring all of the items needed to complete your duties and there are no restrictions on the types of bags you may use, but all items carried into the track by media will be searched by a uniformed officer and all persons entering the track on both days will be scanned by a magnetometer. These new procedures at the media gate are not expected to generate any unusual delays.

No media member will be admitted to the track without a proper Kentucky Derby media credential.

Again, Derby media must use the designated media turnstiles at Gates 1, 10, and 17 for admission to Churchill Downs on Kentucky Oaks and Derby Days. All items carried by media members will be searched at those gates by a uniformed officer and all persons will be required to undergo a magnetometer scan.
