Oaks Starter Anlysis By: Steve Fugitte |
Would certainly be queen of the West Coast if it weren't for You - who has taken two close decisions from her out West. Take nothing away from this filly, she's never missed an exacta outside Breeders' Cup day and always hooks the heavies in her division. Trainer Bob Baffert knows what it takes to win Derby week and her regular rider Victor Espinoza is very hot out West right now. Only time she beat You was when she moved first so the best hope is probably to take first run here. Could be the top contender who remains a fair price in the wagering. |

Pedigree Anlysis By: John Gaver III |
Born: April 7, 1999; DI: 1.86
The chestnut filly Habibti, whose name in Arabic means "female sweetheart", is by the relatively young sire Tabasco Cat, a son of sire-of-sires Storm Cat who won the Preakness Stakes (GI) and $2.3 million on the racetrack. Tabasco Cat is the sire of four crops and 12 black type winners including Snow Ridge, winner of the San Carlos Handicap (GI) and the Grade III winners Perfect Cat and Cat's At Home. Habibti is out of the Temperence Hill mare Miss Sobriety, an unraced half-sister to Kentucky Oaks (GI) winner Gal In A Ruckus, who has also produced the Bold Ruckus colt Skeete's Bay, who is restricted stakes placed at Woodbine. An accomplished main track router and source of stamina in his bloodlines, Temperence Hill is the sire of 169 producing daughters and 20 stakes winners including Tempered Appeal, Scoop, Broken Code, Rita Rucker, Hilltown, Sibling Song and Secret Squall. Habibti is bred top and bottom to be a quality main track router and the Grade I winner has run to her bloodlines. Her pedigree is an example of the Northern Dancer (via Storm Bird) sire line crossed with a Hail to Reason (via Stop The Music) distaff family.
