Trainer Patrick Gallagher said his newly acquired Domestic Dispute came out of the Derby in good order but no decision had been made on the colt's next start.
"He will stay here (at Andrew McKeever's barn) for a few days and then we will make a decision," Gallagher said, not ruling out a shot at the Preakness.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE was a late entrant to the Derby field after being sold and transferred from Bob Baffert to Southern California-based 'Paddy' Gallagher. Not encouraging that he was cut from Baffert's varsity and he has not been the prettiest worker in his Derby 129 preparations. Prep races were not ideal with two fifths in Southern California at low odds but he did show signs of life when third in the Lexington Stakes. Not sure about the quality of what finished behind him that day but a third in a graded event at Keeneland is never too shabby. Was the darling of the Derby Trail for a brief moment after his Santa Catalina win but has gone the wrong direction since and seems like an outsider against this talented bunch. Hard to recommend. |

The homebred colt Domestic Dispute is by Breeders' Cup Juvenile (GI) victor and millionaire Unbridled's Song, a sire of three crops to race at this writing and 15 stakes winners including grade one winners Unbridled Elaine, millionaire winner of the Breeders' Cup Distaff (GI); Buddha, winner of the Wood Memorial; and Songandaprayer, winner of the Fountain Of Youth Stakes. This March foal is out of the graded stakes-placed mare Majestical Moment (second in the Grade III Bay Meadows Oaks), a daughter of the Northern Dancer sire Magesterial. As a broodmare sire, Magesterial is the sire of 107 producing daughters and 15 stakes winners at this writing including two-time champion Smoke Glacken, Magical Maiden, Slerp, Marciano, Tuzia, Tanja, Buck's Best, Lovesme Legend, Magical Mile and Magic Sister. Domestic Dispute acts like a stayer on the racetrack and is bred top and bottom to get a classic distance of ground (10 furlongs and beyond). In fact, his pedigree traces back to the great Mill Reef, winner of the 1971 Epsom Derby going a mile and a half; the '71 Eclipse Stakes at mile and a quarter , the '71 King George & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at 12-furlongs and the '71 Prix de l' Arc de Triomphe going a mile and a half. It's worth noting that Mill Reef, with a lifetime rating of 141, is Timeform's sixth all-time highweighted horse in the history of European Thoroughbred racing.
