Godolphin Racing Inc. announced on Apr. 4 that Inamorato would not be pointed to the May 3 Kentucky Derby (GI). "We think a lot of Inamorato and Danuta (Godolphin's Kentucky Oaks candidate) but we just felt it was going to be too difficult for them right now to go into those kind of races," Godolphin assistant trainer Tom Albertrani told The Thoroughbred Times on Apr. 4 from Dubai. "Right now, it looks unlikely that we will have anything there [at Churchill Downs] this May." Inamorato News: Inamorato Eclipsed By South African Moon

Pedigree Analysis By: John Gaver III
Off The Visa Triple Crown Trail Born: April 15, 2000
    Dosage Index: 6.00
The dark bay or brown colt Inamorato is by the young sire Tale of the Cat, a son of sire-of-sires Storm Cat, a sire of two crops to race and six stakes winners including My Trusty Cat, Tale Of A Dream, Catalissa and Ubiquitous (Nz). He is out of the No Robbery mare Be My Sweetheart, the dam of four stakes winners (including Inamorato) including listed Whirlaway and Count Fleet Stakes winner A. M. Swinger. Her sire, No Robbery, won the 1963 Wood Memorial (GI) for Greentree Stable and finished fifth behind Chateaugay in the 1963 Kentucky Derby (GI). He is by Swaps, winner of the 1955 Kentucky Derby. This colt hails from an excellent distaff family peppered with stakes winners, as his tail female line traces back to the multiple graded stakes winner Water Malone, also the granddam of champion Maria's Mon, and Grade I Santa Anita Derby winner Marfa. Inamorato has won a nine furlong race wire-to-wire, but this colt's pedigree doesn't scream a mile and a quarter. His sire was at his best going seven furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth and while this colt does have a stamina-orieneted distaff fdamily, it is more nine furlong staying power. 10 furlongs may be pushing the distance limitations of his pedigree. Sports a Timeform rating of 114.
