The homebred colt Ministers Wild Cat is by two-time champion and Horse of the Year Deputy Minister, out of the multiple grade one winner and champion mare Hollywood Wildcat - he was bred to be a star. Deputy Minister is the sire of 17 crops and 71 stakes winners at this writing including champions Open Mind, Go For Wand, Dehere, Diva's Debut, Mongol Warrior and Hello Seattle, not to mention Breeders' Cup Classic winner Awesome Again, an earner of over $4 million at the races. Hollywood Wildcat, Ministers Wild Cat's first dam, not only won the Breeders' Cup Distaff (GI), but also the Grade I Hollywood Oaks and the Grade I Gamely Handicap, and is also is the dam of Breeders' Cup Mile (GI) winner War Chant and the stakes winner Double Cat. Hollywood Wildcat is by Kris S., a son of Roberto, who is the sire of 198 producing daughters and 29 stakes winners including millionaires Ladies Din and War Chant, in addition to the stakes winners Nonproductiveasset, Innit (Ire), Cantbetouched, Meetyouathebrig, Sixkissesforsara, Puerto Plata and Bayou The Moon. Ministers Wild Cat is inbred to the brillantly fast and tempramental champion Native Dancer, winner of the Preakness (GI), Belmont (GI) and Travers (GI) Stakes as a 3-year-old. While Ministers Wild Cat's immediate distaff family (first two dams) may be lacking classic distance stamina sources (10 furlongs and beyond), his stamina-laden sire line should be enough for this colt to stay 10 furlongs.
