Made all the early pace but tired in the stretch in the Mar. 22 Lane's End Stakes (GII) at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky., where he was beaten 11 1/4 lengths by New York Hero. No plans have been made for the son of Saint Ballado's next start, though he is not expected to run in the 129th Kentucky Derby (GI) on May 3.

The homebred Saintly Look is by Saint Ballado, a son of Halo who has sired eight crops at this writing and 37 stakes winners including champion Domingo; Grade I Florida Derby winner Captain Bodgit; Grade I Metropolitan winner Yankee Victor; Sister Act, winner of the Grade I Hempstead Handicap and Flame Thrower, winner of the Grade II Del Mar Futurity. Saint Ballado is a stallion that is bred top and bottom for stamina, as he's a son of Halo out of Ballade, who is by Herbager (136 Timeform rating), winner of the 12-furlong Prix du Jockey Club in France in 1959 and also the 12.5 furlong Gran Prix de Saint Cloud the same year. Saintly Look is out of the Roman Majesty (by His Majesty, who is by Robot, a classic stamina influence) mare Sensational Eyes, winner of the Cal. Cup Matron Handicap and second in the Grade II El Encino Stakes. Saintly Look is her first foal. As a broodmare sire, Roman Majesty is the sire of 14 producing daughters with Saintly Look being her only stakes winner. At this writing, Roman Majesty is the sire of 14 crops and a single black type winner, Roman Cuzzin, winner of the Cal. Cup Starter Handicap. On the racetrack, Saintly Look is a free running horse with plenty of natural speed, but he sports a stayers pedigree. He is a grandson of Halo and his sire's dam sire is the classic European stayer Herbager. On his distaff side, Saintly Look traces back to Ribot via His Majesty; he's bred, top and bottom, to stay a mile and a quarter.
