The Manny Tortora trainee was scheduled to leave Louisville on Monday or Tuesday for a 30-day break at the farm according to the trainer, who arrived in Gainesville, Fla., Sunday morning after an all-night drive from Louisville.

"The horse came out of the race fine," Tortora said of the colt that had had the most starts of any entrant in Derby 129.

Megan Connolly walked Supah Blitz around Barn 14 Sunday morning and indicated turf racing may be next for Supah Blitz.

SUPAH BLITZ is a steady performer who is just the kind of horse you want to own. He brings home a paycheck time and time again and always gives his best. Trainer Manny Tortora is a great horseman who usually means business when he ships out of South Florida. Not this time though, this horse was always for sale and carried with him the dream of running in the Derby which usually brings with it a $1 million plus price to those rich enough to bite. Part of that plan includes getting the horse to Louisville in case a late sale goes down, but it didn't happen. Figures to go postward now in search of a minor award and his closing running style certainly helps in that regard with so many speed and stalking types entered. Have a world of respect for the trainer and wish Florida journeywoman Rosemary Homeister, Jr. the best of luck in her maiden Derby voyage but this guy would be doing well to hit the Wild Gale - Mane Minister zone and get up for third. Others look much, much sharper but you can't blame a smart horseman for trying to sell him for more than he is worth in the midst of Derby 129 fever. Born: February 10, 2000
    Dosage Index: 5.67
Trainer Manny Tortora should be very familiar with any personality quirks that Supah Blitz may have, as he trained his sire - Meke - and his stakes-winning dam - Boots 'n Jackie. Mecke is the sire of four crops and four black type winners including Supah Blitz; Grade III Generous Stakes winner Mountain Rage; O.B.S. Championship Stakes (fillies) winner Sea Mist and Manila Stakes winner Rylstone. Supah Blitz is out of the fine racemare Boots 'n Jackie, a multiple stakes winner in South Florida who won the Grade III Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill Downs and was third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (GI). Boots 'n Jackie is a full-sister to the multiple stakes winner Boots 'n Buck, an earner of over $300,000 and a multiple stakes winner in South Florida. As a broodmare sire, Major Moran is the sire of 10 producing daughters and 24 foals with Supah Blitz representing his lone stakes winner. This dark bay colt is by Mecke, winner of the mile and a quarter Arlington Million (GI) on turf and who rallied strongly to finish fifth, beaten 3 1/2 lengths by Thunder Gulch, in the 1995 Kentucky Derby (GI). While the stamina influences on his distaff side seem to be limited to the nine-furlong range, this colt's stamina-oriented top (sire) line should be enough for Supah Blitz to stay the 10-furlong distance of the Kentucky Derby (GI).
