Trainer Wally Dollase said Ten Most Wanted was scheduled for a Monday flight back to California.
"I think he might have a low grade virus. We are going to take some blood before the flight tomorrow," Dollase said. "He'll be fine. I think he is stressed, just like me."
Ten Most Wanted had trained sharply here after his Illinois Derby victory and was the third choice in the race.
"We vanned him (eight hours) to San Francisco (for the El Camino Real Derby) when it was wet and then shipped to Kentucky and vanned to Chicago and back and it may have been too stressful," Dollase said.
"This horse, he is just so strong, I didn't notice it. He didn't handle the crowds well at all and I probably should have just gone back to California with him and then come here rather than taking him to Keeneland where I had other horses."

TEN MOST WANTED is assuming the role of this year's wiseguy horse as more and more experts continue to select him as an alternative to Empire Maker. No doubt they are on to something as his breakthrough win in the Illinois Derby was visually impressive and allowed him to retain Pat Day even though that rider had several other mounts to choose from. Trainer Wally Dollase is a good one and has worked his way back to the top of the sport despite being dismissed in favor of Baffert by the Thoroughbred Corp a couple years back. He and Day have had good success with a sharp turf miler named Good Journey and seem to work very well together. This son of Deputy Commander should have no problem staying the extended distance as that sire won the Travers at 10 furlongs himself and he will get even more stamina from his Criminal Type mare. Broke through with a huge 110 Beyer Speed Figure in the Illinois Derby and is training like he is ready to pair up or exceed that mark. Local legend Day is hungry for his second Derby and won't make any mistakes though he has been a bit banged up lately. Love the way this runner is coming to the race but only you can decide if he is worth 4-1 odds that come with the wiseguy second choice who has run just one big race. There is a point where the value judgement goes against him despite his talent, connections and ideal preparation. |

The dark bay colt colt Ten Most Wanted is by Grade I Travers Stakes winner Deputy Commander, the sire of three crops including a fine group of 3-year-olds of 2003 with Holiday Lady, third in the Grade I Ashland Stakes; Brancusi, a game third in the San Felipe Stakes (GII); Grade II Illinois Derby winner Ten Most Wanted and the listed stakes-placed performer Virgin Voyage to his credit. Ten Most Wanted is out of the Criminal Type (by Alydar) mare Wanted Again, who is out of the stakes-placed In Reality mare Landera, the dam of the multiple grade one main track stayer Cutlass Reality. This colt's tail female line is classy, as he traces back to Grade I Milady Handicap winner Seldom Seen Sue; Grade I Del Mar Oaks winner Bail Out Becky and Grade I King's Bishop Stakes winner More Than Ready in his third dam. Being a son of mile a quarter Travers Stakes (GI) winner Deputy Commander out of a mare by Criminal Type, who won the mile and three-sixteenth Pimlico Special (GI) and the mile and a quarter Hollywood Gold Cup (GI), this colt is bred - top and bottom - to handle the mile and a quarter distance of the Kentucky Derby (GI).
