Ralph Ziadie, trainer of Fountain of Youth (GI) winner Trust N Luck told Churchill Downs' vice president of racing, John Asher, on Wednesday, Apr. 2 there is no chance that his colt will run in the May 3 Kentucky Derby (GI). According to Asher, Ziadie said "maybe" to the Coolmore Lexington Stakes (GII) going a mile and a sixteenth at Keeneland on Apr. 19 and then the Grade I Preakness Stakes at Pimlico, but he said the Kentucky Derby is out and there is "no chance" that he will change his mind.
Ministers Wild Cat will be equipped with blinkers for the first time in the Lexington; Victor Espinoza will ride.
The Coolmore Lexington field from the rail out with riders and odds: Scrimshaw (Prado) 10-1, Ministers Wild Cat (Espinoza) 7-2, Eye Of The Tiger (Robby Albarado) 15-1, Most Feared (Mark Guidry) 6-1, Domestic Dispute (Jerry Bailey) 9-2, Champali (Day) 4-1, Ocean Terrace (Shane Sellers) 6-1 and Trust N Luck (Velasquez) 3-1.

Florida-bred Trust In Luck is by the graded stakes winning sprinter Montbrook (by Buckaroo, a son of Buckpasser), a sire of six crops at this writing and 20 black type winners including the graded stakes winners Outofthebox, winner of the Grade I Super Derby, and Grade III Rebel Stakes winner Snuck In. He also has the listed stakes winner Castlebrook and the minor stakes winner Judge's Case. A chestnut colt foaled in late April, Trust N Luck is out of Bold Burst, who is by Dahar, a son of Lyphard and the great Dahlia (135 Timeform rating), a winner of multiple group and graded stakes races from 10-to-13 furlongs in both Europe and North America for her owner, Nelson Bunker Hunt. Bold Burst is also the dam of Grand Verdana (by Montbrook), a full-sister to Trust N Luck, who earned nearly $200,000 on the racetrack and was a multiple minor stakes winner in South Florida. Additionally, Bold Burst's dam - Bold Brat - is a multiple Grade III stakes winner. While Trust N Luck's top line is speed-orieneted, he is a great-grandson of Buckpasser and gets plenty of stamina from his distaff family through his broodmare sire, Dahar. He is a free-running horse who has proven he can carry his speed a mile and a sixteenth around two turns and win by open lengths. He also has the stamina influence on the distaff side of his pedigree to stay nine furlongs and beyond.
