National Alternative Headliner Saliva

Crown Royal Festival in the Field - The Derby Week Tradition That Rocks Performances by Saliva, Seether, Trapt and Outspoken

Louisville, KY (April 1, 2003) - The Crown Royal Festival in the Field has become as much of a Derby Week tradition as fancy hats, fast horses and bountiful mint juleps. Since it's beginning in 1997, Festival in the Field has rocked the Churchill Downs Infield with performances by headliners including Creed, 3 Doors Down, Collective Soul, Better Than Ezra and Tantric. The 2003 Crown Royal Festival in the Field will keep the tradition going with a stellar national lineup featuring Saliva, Seether, Trapt and Outspoken on Thursday, May 1. The Infield will also be the place to be on Kentucky Oaks Day, Friday, May 2, as the live music tradition will continue with local favorites G-Funk Allstars and It's Not You It's Me.

This will mark a return to Festival in the Field for Saliva, who performed as an opening act in the Infield in 2001. The alternative rock group has developed a strong national following with hits that include "Always," which is currently #20 on Billboards Modern Rock Charts (previously #1), "Rest in Piece," "Click Click Boom" and "Your Disease." In 2002, Saliva lead singer Josey Scott teamed with Chad Kroeger of Nickleback to perform "Hero" a track from the mega-movie hit Spiderman.

Seether will add an international feel to the performance lineup as the South African band will perform their popular cuts "Fine Again", which is currently #17 on the Charts, and "Driven Under." Trapt has been developing a strong national following with their current single "Headstrong" (#6 on the Charts), and Outspoken's play list includes their single "Farther."

The Kentucky Oaks won't be the only headline event on Friday as the Infield crowd will also be able to take in performances by local favorites G-Funk Allstars and It's Not You It's Me.

Admission for Thursday is $2. Gates open at 11 a.m. with the first race of the 10-race program scheduled for 12:45 p.m. Kentucky Oaks admission is $25, and gates open at 8 a.m. Post time for the first race is 11:15 a.m. for the 11-race card. Infield concerts will be free with track admission on both Thursday and Friday.

Complimentary tickets for track admission on Thursday, May 1 will be available at area Tobacco Road stores beginning Monday, April 7, while supplies last.

The Infield will have it all on both days, with betting windows, concession stands, restrooms and viewing of the races made easy on two large Jumbotron screens across from the Infield. Fans are reminded that NO alcoholic beverages, coolers, glass containers, umbrellas and grills are allowed on the grounds. Food items may be carried in clear plastic bags. On Oaks Day, Friday, May 2, lawn chairs may be brought into the Infield through Gate 3 admission area (only) located at Central Avenue and Fourth Street.

For a detailed list of allowed items and security measures, please log onto the Churchill Downs website at www.churchilldowns.com., or listen to WTFX-FM (100.5 The Fox).
