Belle Of Perintown, winner of the Grade II Silverbulletday Stakes at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, emerged from her most recent start - the Mar. 8 Fair Grounds Oaks (GII) - with a bone chip in her ankle and underwent surgery the week of Mar. 17 to repair it, the filly's trainer, Eddie Kenneally, told Daily Racing Form.
"It probably happened in the race," Kenneally told the Form on Friday, Mar. 21. "She went into it perfectly, and soundness had never been a problem."
The trainer said noted veterinarian Dr. Larry Bramlage had performed the surgery in Lexington, Ky., and that the daughter of Dehere should come back 100 percent.
"We'll give her as much time as she needs," Kenneally said. "It's hard to say when she'll come back."

Belle Of Perintown was purchased privately by her current owners after she failed to meet her reserve price and was bought back for $92,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Florida February sale of 2-year-olds in training. She is by champion Dehere, the second leading sire on The Blood-Horse's 2002 Leading Sire list, a sire of five crops to race at this writing including champions Belle Du Jour (Aust) and Mi Amigo Guelo; the graded stakes winners Take Charge Lady and Graeme Hall and the listed stakes winners Easyfromthegitgo and Miss Seffens. She is out of the Mr. Prospector mare Hot Match, a unraced full-sister to the stakes-placed performer Beautiful Gem, who is out of the crack Grade I winning racemare Jeanne Jones, who finished second in the 1988 Kentucky Oaks (GI). As a broodmare sire, sire of sires Mr. Prospector, generally a source of speed in pedigrees via the Raise A Native sire line, was the sire of 25 crops, 427 producing daughters and 238 stakes-winners including champions Hollywood Wildcat; three-time champion Dayjur; Tempera; Green Tune; three-time champion Fasliyev; two-time champion Golden Opinion; Pas De Reponse; State Shinto; two-time champion Minardi and Always Friendly. On the racetrack, Belle Of Perintown has been vulnerable at distances farther than eight furlongs; the nine-furlong trip of the Kentucky Oaks may be pushing the distance limitations of her pedigree.
