The Trackside-based filly In Case Of Wind walked the shed row in her barn on May 1, and trainer Bill Million said that's all she'll do Friday (May 2) morning. "If she's not tight enough now, I'm in trouble," Million said. He expects to ship from Trackside about 8:00 a.m. (EDT) Friday and arrive at Churchill at 8:30 a.m. (EDT).

IN CASE OF WIND is very overmatched and figures to be running for a
fourth
or fifth place paycheck in Oaks 129. Not encouraging that she was a
well-beaten fourth by 'two other than' allowance company last out and
these
will be about an eighth of a mile faster than the rivals she hooked that
day
at Keeneland. Has the running style to pick up the pieces and Calvin
Borel
is smart enough to ride her to get a paycheck, which is fifth or better.
Would be a major accomplishment if he could get it done because this
filly
does not fit on class or speed figures at all. |
Born: March 3, 2000

The dark bay filly In Case Of Wind is by the graded stakes placed sire In Case (by Storm Cat), who was second in the Grade III Sport Page Handicap. He is the sire of five crops and 89 stakes winners including Case Of The Blues, Swift Case, Bada Bam Bada Boom, Quarter Ton Of Fun. She is out of the Key To The Mint mare Navajo Wind, and her tail female line traces back to the stakes winners Southern Run and the multiple Grade I winner Full Out. As a broodmare sire, Key To The Mint is the sire of 270 producing daughters and 111 stakes winners including six-time champion Swain; champions Key To The Moon, Inside Information, Prince Of Birds and Soaring Softly and the additional stakes winners Taiki Sherlock (Jpn), an earner of $2.4 million, Gorgeous, Educated Risk, De Roche and Mountain Cat. Being a granddaughter of Storm Cat out of Key To The Mint mare, nine furlongs ought to be right up the fill's alley. It's the class hike that will be her undoing in Oaks 129, not her pedigree.
