Lady Tak To Breeze Monday
Atlantic Ocean/Santa Catarina - Trainer Bob Baffert's two Kentucky Oaks
hopefuls galloped Saturday morning at Churchill Downs under Dana Barnes.
Santa Catarina, third in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies
(GI), is scheduled to work Sunday morning after the break.
Elloluv - Ashland Stakes (GI) winner Elloluv worked a half-mile in 47
4/5 with an out time of 1:00 4/5 at Keeneland Saturday morning after the
renovation break with jockey Robby Albarado up.
The Craig Dollase trainee is scheduled to ship to Churchill
Downs on Monday.
Go For Glamour - Columbine Stable's Go For Glamour galloped a mile and a
quarter after the renovation break under exercise rider Andy Durnin.
Third in the recent Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park, Go For
Glamour is trained by Beau Greely, who is scheduled to arrive in
Louisville on Monday. Greely also trains Century City, who is being
pointed to the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic to be run on Derby Day.
In Case Of Wind - James and Karen Stone's In Case Of Wind breezed a
strong half-mile on Saturday at Churchill Downs' Trackside Louisville
training center and trainer Bill Million said the Kentucky Oaks could be
her next start.
In Case Of Wind covered the distance in :48.20 over a "fast"
track, the second-fastest of 20 moves at the distance over the
seven-furlong course.
"She's doing great," said Million. "She has run well against
good company throughout her career and how often do you get the
opportunity to even think about running in the Oaks?"
A daughter of In Case out of the Key To The Mint mare Navajo
Wind, In Case Of Wind was purchased for a mere $2,500 at Keeneland in
October 2001. She has a career record of 2-2-1 in 11 races and has
earned $55,972. Both of her victories came at Churchill Downs,
including a Nov. 23 allowance win over Kentucky Oaks contender Bird
Town.
In her most recent start, In Case Of Wind finished fourth behind
Fast Cookie in a field of five 3-year-old fillies in a seven-furlong
allowance race at Keeneland on April 11. Million's filly stumbled
leaving the gate, trailed the field early and was unable to recover at
the one-turn distance. But she has done so well since that frustrating
outing that she has prompted Million to consider a shot at the Oaks.
"This filly never misses an oat and she's coming around at the
right time," he said. "She could be a little bit of a sleeper in the
Oaks. We're going to take a good, hard look at it."
Island Fashion - Everest Stables' Island Fashion, who broke her maiden
in the Winstar Sunland Oaks, galloped a bit more than a mile after the
break under exercise rider Andy Durnin.
Trainer Nick Canini said he would probably work the Petionville
filly six furlongs on Tuesday.
Pat Valenzuela, who won the 1985 Kentucky Oaks aboard Fran's
Valentine, has the call on Island Fashion.
Lady Tak - Heiligbrodt Racing Stable's Lady Tak, winner of the Fair
Grounds Oaks (GII) and runner-up in the Ashland (GI), galloped 1 3/8
miles Saturday under exercise rider Lisa Orn. Assistant Scott Blasi
said the Steve Asmussen-trained filly is scheduled to work on Monday.
My Boston Gal - Chester Porter, Phil Milner and Randall Bloch's My
Boston Gal galloped Saturday morning under exercise rider Tracey Wilkes.
Assistant Ian Wilkes said the Carl Nafzger-trained daughter of Boston
Harbor, winner of the Golden Rod (GII) and the Stonerside Beaumont
(GII), would walk on Easter Sunday.
My Trusty Cat - Trainer David Vance said Carl Pollard's My Trusty Cat, a
romping winner of the Honeybee at Oaklawn Park but fourth as the
favorite in last week's Fantasy (GII) over the same track, is a
"possible" starter in the 129th Kentucky Oaks (GI).
My Trusty Cat dueled three-wide for the lead through most of the
1 1/16-mile Fantasy, but was beaten by just one length for second in the
race won by the stretch-running Ruby's Reception.
"She grabbed the bit leaving the 7/8ths pole and she never spit
it out the whole trip and a horse can't run that way," said Vance. "I
might have had her a little too sharp and she broke super sharp and just
went away from there running. I know that wasn't her best race."
Vance said that My Trusty Cat would work next Sunday, April 27,
and a final decision on a bid for the Kentucky Oaks would be made after
that.
"This race is going to be tough, but as far as I'm concerned
there's no outstanding horse in the race," said Vance. "You can't
really say there's any filly that would scare me away from running in
the race. My filly came out of the race good and she'll have a nice
little five-eighths of a mile breeze and if she goes good and everything
goes good, I'm going
