By: John Asher & Gary Yunt

Kentucky Oaks 129 Headlines:

  • Lady Tak Works Six Furlongs
  • Atlantic Ocean Drills Sharp Five Eighths
  • Go For Glamour, Island Fashion To Work Apr. 22

ATLANTIC OCEAN/SANTA CATARINA - The Thoroughbred Corporation's Atlantic Ocean worked five furlongs under exercise rider Dana Barnes in :59 3/5 according to Churchill Downs clockers. "It was a very nice, very strong work," said trainer Bob Baffert. "I got her going seven-eighths in 1:24 1/5 and galloping out in 38." Baffert reported that Santa Catarina, who worked seven furlongs in 1:24 on Sunday (Apr. 20) came out of the work "excellent."

ELLOLUV - Ashland stakes winner Elloluv is scheduled to ship to Churchill Downs from Keeneland on Wednesday.

GO FOR GLAMOUR - Columbine Stable's Go For Glamour galloped a mile and a quarter after the renovation break under exercise rider Andy Durnin. The Beau Greely trainee is scheduled to work Tuesday morning after the break.

IN CASE OF WIND - James and Karen Stone's daughter of In Case jogged a mile for trainer Bill Million at Churchill Downs' Trackside Louisville training center. She had breezed a half-mile on Saturday in :48.20 and walked under the shedrow on Sunday.

ISLAND FASHION - Everest Stables' Island Fashion jogged a mile after the renovation break under exercise rider Andy Durnin. Trainer Nick Canani plans to work Island Fashion six furlongs after the break Tuesday morning.

LADY TAK - With exercise rider Lisa Orn up, three-time stakes winner Lady Tak worked six furlongs in 1:13 1/5 in company after the renovation break. "It was a nice, smooth work," said trainer Steve Asmussen, who is shuttling back and forth between Churchill Downs and Lone Star. "She's a really fast filly and she has had success here at Churchill Downs, so we are excited for the opportunity (to run in the Oaks. Her going three-quarters is always impressive; with the race a mile and an eighth, that's a bit of a concern, and we have to see how she responds after her first defeat." Lady Tak had her five-race unbeaten streak snapped by Elloluv in the April 5 Ashland at Keeneland. "That was pretty much it for serious preparation today," Asmussen said. "We will wait until next Monday and blow out a half. There is not much to do."

MY BOSTON GAL - Porter, Milner and Bloch's My Boston Gal, the Carl Nafzger-trained winner of the Golden Rod (GII) and Stonerside Beaumont (GII), galloped 1 ½ miles under exercise rider Tracey Wilkes.

MY TRUSTY CAT - Carl Pollard's My Trusty Cat galloped before the renovation break under exercise rider Jeff Cuddie. The David Vance trainee is scheduled to work Sunday.
