Yell Walks After Thursday Breeze
ATLANTIC OCEAN/SANTA CATARINA - Trainer Bob Baffert's two Kentucky Oaks
hopefuls galloped over a sloppy main track Friday morning.
Baffert plans to work the duo either Sunday or Monday.
Gary Stevens has the call on Santa Catarina and David Flores on Atlantic
Ocean.
ELLOLUV - Paul Reddam's Elloluv galloped after the renovation break
under exercise rider Enrique Alferez. The Craig Dollase trainee is
scheduled to breeze six furlongs with Oaks rider Robby Albarado up after
the break Saturday.
Elloluv will mark Dollase's first starter at Churchill Downs
since 1998.
"The first horses I saddled here were in the Breeders' Cup,"
Dollase said. "I had Daring General run in the Juvenile early in the
card and he was fourth and then Reraise won the Sprint. I ran one the
next day and was third, so I've had a win, a third and fourth here."
GO FOR GLAMOUR - Columbine Stable's Go For Glamour jogged two miles
after the renovation break under exercise rider Andy Durnin.
Trainer Beau Greely is expected to return to Louisville from
Hollywood Park on Sunday.
Alex Solis has the mount in the Oaks.
IN CASE OF WIND - James and Karen Stone's daughter of In Case breezed
five furlongs in 1:02 over a "sloppy" track at Churchill Downs'
Trackside Louisville training center on Friday.
Jockey Calvin Borel was in the irons aboard the Bill
Million-trained filly as she covered the distance in fractional times of
:12.60, :25.20, :37.20 and :49.60 and she galloped out six furlongs in
1:16.40.
Million said that In Case Of Wind would be entered in the
Kentucky Oaks (GI) if she does well over the next couple of days.
"She came out of it well and got a good 'blow' in her," said
Million. "Over this racetrack this morning I think that was a pretty
good move. Everything, as of right now, is on 'go.' We'll see how she
comes out. Maybe it'll rain next week and we'll have a sloppy track for
the Oaks because she handled it really, really well."
Million said that Borel would ride In Case Of Wind in the Oaks.
"Calvin was really pleased with the work today," he said. "She
broke off a little quicker than normal. We wanted to see if she could
sustain that and finish up strong and she did. She galloped out very
strong and actually re-broke with him down the backside when they were
galloping out. He didn't think there was any problem with her getting
the mile and an eighth."
ISLAND FASHION - Everest Stables' Island Fashion jogged a mile after the
renovation break under exercise rider Andy Durnin.
"I was going to gallop her today, but with the track like it
was, I just jogged her. One day doesn't make a difference," trainer Nick
Canani said.
Pat Valenzuela will ride in the Oaks.
LADY TAK - Fair Grounds Oaks winner Lady Tak was on the track at 6 a.m.
and galloped a mile and a quarter under exercise rider Lisa Orn.
Lady Tak is scheduled to work Monday.
Two-time Kentucky Oaks winning rider Jerry Bailey has the call
on Lady Tak.
MY BOSTON GAL - Dual Grade II stakes winner My Boston Gal galloped a
mile under exercise rider Tracey Wilkes before the renovation break.
Pat Day will have the mount in the Oaks.
MY TRUSTY CAT - Carl Pollard's My Trusty Cat galloped a mile and a
quarter under exercise rider Jeff Cuddie shortly after 6 o'clock Friday
morning.
"She's doing just fine," trainer David Vance said.
The filly is scheduled to work Sunday. No rider has been named
for the Oaks.
YELL - Davona Dale winner Yell walked the shedrow at trainer Shug
McGaughey's Belmont Park barn Friday morning, a day after working five
furlongs in 1:01.09 under exercise rider Donna McMullen.
"She came back fine from the work and we are pretty much ready
to go," said Buzz Tenney, McGaughey's top assistant. "We will ship down
Wednesday the 30th."
John Velazquez is scheduled to ride Yell in the Oaks.
