Coming Derby Week! Eurosilver is by Unbridled’s Song, who sold at auction for $1.4 million as a two year old, and then won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in 1995. He sired two Grade one winners in his first crop: Breeders’ Cup Distaff (GI) winner Unbridled Elaine and Fountain of Youth Stakes (GI) winner Songandaprayer. From four crops to race, he has nineteen stakes winners, including Buddha, winner of the Wood Memorial (GI); Marylebone, winner of the Matron Stakes (GI); and Domestic Dispute, winner of the Santa Catalina (GII). Unbridled’s Song showed flashes of brilliance on the racetrack, winning the Breeder Cup Juvenile in only his third start and taking the Florida Derby (GI) by 5 ¾ lengths, defeating Horse of the Year Skip Away, and classic winners Louis Quatorze and Editor’s Note. Eurosilver is out of the mare Russian Tango, who has had one other foal to race, a turf specialist who won three out of 37 lifetime starts. Like Eurosilver, Russian Tango was campaigned by Buckram Oak Farm. She had four lifetime wins, with her lone stakes win coming in The Very One Handicap, a 1 ¼ mile dirt race, at Gulfstream Park. She is also a half-sister to six other runners, all of them two-turn winners out of the mare Brave Raj. Included in the six was Bravo Bull, a minor stakes winner in the Midwest. Brave Raj was the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (GI) victor in 1986. That year she also won the Del Mar Debutante Stakes (GII), Sorrento Stakes (GIII), and Florida Stallion/Susan's Girl Stakes. She was awarded Eclipse Champion two year old filly and is currently a broodmare at Patchen Wilkes Farm in KY. Eurosilver’s broodmare sire is Nijinsky II, winner of the 1970 English Triple Crown and one of the greatest racehorses of the last half of the 20th century. Besides never finishing worse than second in his 13 race career (11-2-0), he was also leading English first crop sire in 1974, the leading North American broodmare sire twice, the sire of the dams of over 165 stakes winners, including 12 champions.
