Smarty Jones Update From Philadelphia Park
Philadelphia Park Press Release

SMARTY JONES UPDATE, SUNDAY, MAY 23, 2004, PHILADELPHIA PARK BENSALEM, Pa. -- Smarty Jones went to the track at Philadelphia Park early Sunday morning and jogged one and one-half mile on his own under regular exercise rider Peter van Trump.

Trainer John Servis said Smarty Jones continues to train in "excellent" fashion, and reiterated the Elusive Quality colt will have an official workout later in the week, either on Friday or Saturday.

Asked if the drill would be at Philadelphia Park, Servis said, "If I'm here, yes. I'm not sure, yet."

Servis, an avid Philadelphia Flyers Fan, was still reeling a bit from the team's 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals.

"Not good, I wasn't a happy camper," Servis said. "You know what, (the Flyers) are just so beat up. It's a shame. You could kind of tell it took a toll last night."

Servis and jockey Stewart Elliott will hold a press conference from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Monday in the paddock at Philadelphia Park.
