Funny Cide

Sackatoga Stable's Funny Cide, a New York-bred gelding trained by Barclay Tagg and ridden by Jose Santos, rallied from third to seize the lead from Peace Rules in the upper stretch and held off a rally by the favored Empire Maker to win the 129th running of the Kentucky Derby (GI) by 1-3/4 lengths.
CDSN Photographer Lyverse Wins Honorable Mention Eclipse Award

(January 21, 2004) - Freelance photographer Jeremy Lyverse, who has shot extensively for both kentuckyderby.com and churchilldowns.com, recently garnered a 2003 Eclipse Award honorable mention for photography. The nomination for best photo came for his Derby Day shot of Funny Cide. Eclipse Awards are given to recognize members of the media for outstanding coverage of Thoroughbred racing.

Lyverse has been photographing the Derby and its surrounding events for the last five years. He is a recent graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he majored in photojournalism.

Lyverse currently lives in Louisville where he works for a local paper when he is not shooting for Churchill Downs.
