Louisville, KY (March 11, 2004) - It's the main ingredient to any winning Kentucky Derby party - tasty, traditional Kentucky-styled food. Churchill Downs and Levy Restaurants, the food service provider for the Downs and the Kentucky Derby, have teamed to offer a fun filled class that will help Derby hosts entertain guests with the finest Kentucky foods prepared with a gourmet flair.

Cooking for the Kentucky Derby presentation will be held, Saturday, April 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Derby Room of Churchill Downs Jockey Club Suites. There is limited seating for the event, with a registration fee of $35 that will go to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation. The fee includes a lunch consisting of the same menu items that will be prepared that day.

Levy Restaurants' Head Chef Gil Logan will conduct the event and will prepare a Derby Menu that will consist of the finest Kentucky foods. All ingredients used in the recipes will be Kentucky products as part of the commonwealth's Kentucky Fresh Program.

Logan has an extensive background in culinary arts that was learned in part from his father, who owns and operated the highly acclaimed Elizabeth's Café in Duck, NC. Logan's has honed these skills in a career in which he has provided fine dining menus to major sporting events and venues including Pro Player Stadium and American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.
