Start good and slow. Won easily; second and third driving. OLD ROSEBUD set the pace under restraint, although going fast to the stretch turn, where, when called upon, he moved away from the others to win hard held as his rider pleased. HODGE raced in closest pursuit until the last eighth, where he tired, but stood the drive gamely. BRONZEWING closed and came with a rush through the last quarter. JOHN GUND tired racing well up to the stretch. OLD BEN and SURPRISING ran fairly well. WATERMELON quit after the three-quarters. Scratched - Ivan Gardner, Brickley, Belloc, Constant.
