FUSAICHI PEGASUS broke to the inside, saved ground along the backstretch, swung out approaching the quarter pole and edged clear under vigorous hand urging. APTITUDE was with the winner along the backstretch, eased outside FUSAICHI PEGASUS nearing the final sixteenth and finished determinedly but wasn?t good enough. IMPEACHMENT was outrun until the stretch while saving ground, rallied steadily along the inside to finish willingly but unable to threaten the top two. MORE THAN READY moved inside to stalk the dueling leaders from the rail soon after the break, he then slipped through along the rail to gain along even terms for the lead when straightened out in the drive, then failed to sustain the needed momentum. WHEELAWAY worked his way inside on the first turn, came out five wide approaching the stretch, then lugged in badly, bothering CAPTAIN STEVE and forcing that one in and flattened out. CHINA VISIT was unhurried early, then followed the winner seven wide on the second turn while rallying, then, after being bumped slightly about the sixteenth pole when CAPTAIN STEVE drifted out, lacked a further response. CURULE leaned in at the start and bumped HIGH YIELD, raced within striking distance while three wide around the second turn, angled out five wide in the drive but came up empty. CAPTAIN STEVE, within easy striking distance while between horses nearing the end of the backstretch, was put to a drive beginning the second turn, rallied three wide to gain a slight advantage a quarter mile then, after being bothered in the upper stretch, drifted out while tiring. WAR CHANT, unhurried on the backstretch while racing just outside FUSAICHI PEGASUS, was finished after seven furlongs. DEPUTY WARLOCK, outside on the backstretch, came to the extreme outside for the drive and passed tired rivals. TRIPPI went up to alternate for the lead outside HAL?S HOPE, battled on about even terms until the stretch and gave way. EXCHANGE RATE, five or six wide throughout, was finished at the far turn. ANEES swerved in at the start while breaking awkwardly, saved ground but failed to menace. THE DEPUTY (IRE) failed to mount a rally while wide throughout. HIGH YIELD bumped at the start and caught five wide entering the first turn, continued wide and was finished approaching the stretch. HAL?S HOPE dueled inside for a mile and tired. COMMENDABLE was also wide while not a factor. RONTON, off a bit slow, failed to reach contention. GRAEME HALL showed speed for seven furlongs, gave way and was eased.
