(March 22, 2006) - The Jimmy Jerkens trained Corinthian, the disqualified winner of the March 4 Fountain of Youth (GII), has suffered a minor hind ankle fracture and will miss the 2006 Triple Crown, the Daily Racing Form reports.
According to Dr. Stephen Carr, the racing manager for Corinthian's owners, Centennial Farms, Corinthian suffered a "very small hairline crack on the top of and the front of his long pastern bone in his left hind ankle."
Corinthian, who was training at Belmont Park when the injury occurred, had been pointing towards the April 8 Wood Memorial (GI) as his final start prior to the Kentucky Derby.
