Discreet Cat To Miss Kentucky Derby
Edited Godolphin Release

(April 18, 2006) - The unbeaten UAE Derby winner will instead be shipped to the US and stabled at Belmont Park where he will be prepared for some of the major races in the second half of the season.

Explaining the decision today, Godolphin's Racing Manager Simon Crisford said: "Discreet Cat is a really promising young horse, but after assessing the situation, Sheikh Mohammed has decided that he would prefer to give him more time.

"We see him as an important horse for Godolphin both later this season and next year. He won't actually be three until May so we want to give him time to develop. Although we have no specific targets in mind for him at the moment, Discreet Cat will not be running in any of the Triple Crown races."

Bought by Godolphin after winning his maiden at Saratoga in August, Discreet Cat won a minor conditions race over a mile at Nad Al Sheba before winning the Group 2 UAE Derby by six lengths.
