Churchill Downs History

The track celebrates the 100th running of the Fall Meet.

The infield is opened for the first time in Oaks history.

The year also marks the first time Churchill has received the entire seven-race simulcast of the Breeders’ Cup; the introduction of the “DreamStakes”, a Kentucky Lottery game based on the results of the Kentucky Derby, and the selection of Churchill as the host site for the 1991 Breeders’ Cup.
