To Barbaro, Dr. Richardson, owners and trainers,
It is such good news to hear that this terrific horse is on the mend. I am so happy for all of you. Having followed Barbaro since before his Derby victory, it is great to learn of such progress. So many of us admire the spirit that Barbaro displayed during this terrible ordeal. I was especially pleased because, just a few years ago, an accident such as this would result in euthanasia. That would have been such a criminal waste in this case.
You are all to be commended for your foresight, hard work and love in this case. Thank you for taking such good care of our winner.
I have a nice picture of Barbaro on my desk and thank God every day for his recovery.
