Chasing the Pick 4

Saturday, May 05, 2007

Here's my ticket for the $1 million guaranteed Derby Day Pick 4:

Race 7 – The La Troienne

An elongated 7 1/2-furlong sprint. Trainer Steve Asmussen wisely kept Appealing Zophie off the Oaks trail and she’s the filly to beat in here. Also using Silverinyourpocket, Time’s Mistress and Tessa Blue.

3-5-6-10

Race 8 – The Humana Distaff

Pussycat Doll won this race impressively last year and makes just her second start since. When she on her game she’s tough to beat. Also using Shaggy Mane, Leah’s Secret, Hystericalady and Sweet Fervor. Taking a stand against Bushfire.

1-2-4-7-9

Race 9 – The Woodford Reserve Turf Classic

I still don’t know how Einstein overcame the 11 post to win the Muniz at Fair Grounds. He’s really good now. Also using Brilliant, Danzon, Better Talk Now and Sky Conqueror.

1-4-5-6-7

Race 10 – The Kentucky Derby

Singling Curlin for reasons I’ve already explained

The ticket: 3-5-6-10 / 1-2-4-7-9 / 1-4-5-6-7 / 2

4 x 5 x 5 x 1 x $1 = $100

Good luck!

Kevin,
Yup, I'm kicking myself. My intention was to be alive with both Street Sense and Curlin in the Derby, but I decided to cut down the ticket and stand alone. The will-pay with Curlin was more than $6,500 for $2. As a hedge, I placed a large win bet on Street Sense, so I'm not complaining.

Well, you would have won $800 on the pick 3.
