It's all over but the shoutin'.
The track is now fast. The air is now like soup. The crowd is now drunk. And the race is almost here.
If you don't have an opinion by now, I can't help you.
I decided to place a win wager on Nobiz Like Shobiz after all. It occurred to me that he could win, and either Street Sense or Curlin could run 2nd. Under that scenario, I would not cash a ticket. So I bet him.
Hopefully, my efforts to provide all of you with some insight, analysis, and all that jazz have been helpful. I have had a lot of fun writing in this space for the last few months, and I thank all of you for your comments. Even the nasty ones. Keep them coming.
I will be back after the race to give a quick wrap-up. Hopefully I will have a pocket full of money.
Good luck. Let's all hope for a safe race.

I know it is after the race, and 20-20 hind sight is the rule of the land. With 20 horses and many opinions, many tickets in the trash barrel, Justin, you have provided the best blog during the week. Thank you. Waiting for next year.!!

monster, tremendous beast, whatever you want to call it i still believe you have to race as a 2 year old. Curlin-they should have kept the horse with Helen Pitts. He was sold, rushed to Asmussen who really does not know the horse too well. it just set up that he would not win. You cannot ask for a better trip than borel got. Hard Spun ran well. the 57 and change work came after jones (180lbs) worked the horse. that was the tell and ole trainer trick. 1pm post tomorrow so all is not lost.

Well, I feel vindicated that Curlin lost. I hope this puts to rest for awhile the notion that this race can be won without a proper foundation of races. While some of the lesser "rules" are being broken (gelding, 30 day+ layoff (barely), BC Juvenile) the larger ones with regard to proper preparation will hold for some time....I will admit I am shocked Curlin even ran 3rd. I would assume if came out of the race OK he will be live for the Preakness. With the extra experience under his belt he would be a threat to win and a logical wager.

I doubt many from the Derby will run in the Preakness. King of Roxy is probably the biggest threat to Street Sense.

gonna be a good preakness. calvin borel knows CD and pino knows PIM. Curlin ran ok but lack of seasoning. I knew pletcher was in trouble yesterday when only rags ran for him. ...bring on the preakness. this could be a real good preakness coming up.
