The Blue Grass Stakes And The Arkansas Derby

Friday, April 13, 2007

With 3 weeks to go until the 133rd running of The Grade I Kentucky Derby, two important prep races are to be run on Saturday afternoon.

The Grade I Blue Grass Stakes features a couple of three-year-olds that were "neighbors" during the winter months in South Florida. DOMINICAN and STREET SENSE both spent the winter training at Palm Meadows in Boynton Beach, Florida. They're both experienced on the Polytrack and I do believe they'll continue the positive trend that was established last week in both The Grade I Wood Memorial and The Grade II Illinois Derby by "our snowbirds."

The Grade II Arkansas Derby has ten entrants. Five of them (DELIGHTFUL KISS, CURLIN, STORM IN MAY, FOR YOU REPPO, and DEADLY DEALER) either live or have spent time in the Sunshine State. The main contenders here appear to be FOR YOU REPPO, CURLIN, and DEADLY DEALER.

Next week, we just might take a look at The Lexington Stakes.

You're the only one I heard anything about Dominican from beforehand.

Toby, going out on a limb here for both graded races for Saturday. For the Arkansas Derby, I am going with For You Reppo. For the Blue Grass, I am picking Zanjero. Hope everybody has a great racing day.
