I stood in the Kentucky Derby Museum last night about an hour after Street Sense crossed the wire. That's where the Winners' Party is held. On the big TV screen, they were showing the replay of the race over and over again, and the replay included the blimp shot that NBC showed in its telecast. I watched the replay about 30 times, and I can tell you exactly what every horse did in the race.

Rewrite the rule book.

Or better yet, toss it in the trash.

It's all over but the shoutin'.

We still have a good four hours of betting ahead of us, but the tote board is starting to make a little more "sense".

Get it? Sense. Like in "Street Sense."

One of the perks of staying at a Louisville hotel during Derby Weekend is the assortment of "party favors" that the hotel staff places in your room on Derby Eve.

It's 10:30pm on Derby Eve. I'm sitting in my hotel room a few miles from Churchill Downs. I'm totally exhausted from the greatest and busiest week of my life, and with my last ounce of energy, I am ready to begin the process of bringing this blog to a close.

I understand that we still have an entire day's worth of betting ahead of us, but can someone explain to me how Imawildandcrazyguy is 18-1 at this point?

Over the years, I have learned that any time I catch myself say "I wish that horse was not in the race," I should bet the farm on him, because my fears of him beating me are usually with good cause.

Before I leave Churchill Downs today, I will place my first Derby bet. It's a bet that has won me a few bucks over the years.

This is the 133rd running of The $2,000,000 Grade I Kentucky Derby.
