The Oaks Experience
As I watch beautiful hats flow through the turn styles,
I look to the sky and think clouds can't be seen for miles.
Sure enough the wind started to blow,
And the whites of the leaves began to show.
The horses continue to walk through the paddock,
And Churchill Downs simulcast broadcasts without static.
It is evident that people will not give up
on something so small as a thunder storm hiccup.
Today is a day for the ladies from grandstand to dirt track,
With a Proud Spell and excitement for years to come back.
Draping the lillies over this Proud Spell,
is unlike anything I can begin to tell.
Thanks for being a part of this run,
See you tomorrow for the Derby under the Kentucky Sun!!

05/02/2008 11:30 pmThe Oaks was fun, but way sloppy. How do you think that is going to affect the Derby tomorrow if the track remains the same?
