Edgar Prado is a native of Lima, Peru and hails from a racing family - his father is a trainer and two of his eight brothers are jockeys. He dominated the Maryland racing scene for years with multiple riding titles at both Laurel and Pimlico, but in the summer of 1999 decided to shift his tack to New York.

Courtlandt Farms is the breeding and racing operation of Don Adam.  Don Adam was born in 1935 in Bryan, Texas.  He graduated with a business degree in 1957 and was chairman and CEO of First America Bank until its acquisition by Citigroup in 2005.  Adam's involvement in racing did not begin until 1995 when he attended Saratoga as a guest of W.S. Farish, owner of Lane's End and former U.S.

Pedigree Analysis

Adriano is by two-time leading sire A.P. Indy, a son of legendary Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew who hails from the terrific Secretariat mare Weekend Surprise. Named Horse of the Year in 1992 following wins in the Belmont S. (G1) and Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), A.P. Indy is the sire of 2003 Horse of the Year Mineshaft as well as classic winners Rags to Riches (the first filly in 102 years to win the 1 1/2-mile Belmont S.) and Bernardini (2006 Preakness [G1]). His progeny's Average Winning Distance is a whopping 8.2 furlongs. A.P.
