Pedigree Analysis

Anak Nakal has a pedigree well suited to the classic distance. His sire, $3.5 million earner Victory Gallop, finished second in both the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness S. (G1) before foiling the Triple Crown bid of Real Quiet in the 1 1/2-mile Belmont S. (G1). In a stretch drive that will be long remembered, Victory Gallop got up in the final stride to catch Real Quiet by inches at the wire. The following season, Victory Gallop was honored as champion older male by virtue of his victories in the Whitney H. (G1) and Stephen Foster H.
