Court Vision

Gulch x Weekend Storm (Storm Bird)

Pedigree

Court Vision is by Gulch, whose most memorable racetrack performance may have been his closing victory in the 1988 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) at Churchill Downs that ensured him the title of champion sprinter that year. Gulch also proved himself capable of big performances at longer distances, figuring prominently in the Triple Crown as a three-year-old with a third in the Belmont S. (G1). At stud, Gulch passes on his stamina, and he has sired over 65 black-type winners, including 1995 Kentucky Derby (G1) hero Thunder Gulch, who, like Court Vision, won the Remsen S. (G2). Gulch's offspring tend to improve with age and he has also sired the dual English champion Nayef; The Cliff's Edge, who won the Blue Grass S. (G1); and Japan Cup Dirt (Jpn-G1) winner Eagle Cafe. Gulch is by Mr. Prospector, whose Kentucky Derby influence is seen through 2000 winner Fusaichi Pegasus and as the grandsire of Unbridled, who won the Roses in 1990.

Court Vision hails from one of the finest American classic distance families as his unraced dam, Weekend Storm, is a full sister to Preakness (G1) winner and Kentucky Derby runner-up Summer Squall, and she's a half-sister to Horse of the Year and multiple leading sire A.P. Indy. She's also the dam of Kipling, sire of the 2007 Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) winner, Kip Deville. Weekend Storm is a granddaughter of two Kentucky Derby winners -- Northern Dancer (1964) and Secretariat (1973).

By the proven sire Gulch and from a family loaded with previous success at the classic distance, Court Vision should be perfectly suited by the Kentucky Derby trip.
