Trainer: Louie J. Roussel III

Louie J. Roussel III was born on January 13, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and still resides in the state. He is best known for training Risen Star to victory in the Preakness and Belmont Stakes en route to an Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old colt in 1988. Like Recapturetheglory, Risen Star was owned in partnership with Ronnie Lamarque. Roussel was the majority owner and president of the Fair Grounds racetrack in New Orleans prior to 1990. He worked in the banking and insurance business after graduating from law school in 1970 from Loyola University of New Orleans. Roussel has owned and trained over twenty stakes winners.

Jockey: E. T. Baird

Edward Thomas "E.T." Baird was born on November 19, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois, and currently resides in Palatine, Illinois. E.T. had a banner year in 2007 when he finished third in the Arlington Park jockey standings, riding 89 winners during the meet. He won stakes races last year aboard Dreaming of Anna, Dreaming of Liz and Lewis Michael. E.T. began riding at Hawthorne Race Course in November of 1985 and was iducted into that track's Hall of Fame in 1998. E.T. Baird has never ridden in the Kentucky Derby, but his father R.L. Baird rode in the race five times between 1950-1978.
