Trainer: Paddy Gallagher
Patrick "Paddy" Gallagher is a native of Strabane, Ireland and was a amateur rider in his native counrty. His brother, Jimmy, was a professional race rider on the Emerald Isle. Gallagher came to the U.S. to visit in 1980 and wound up working on a farm, which is where he met trainer John Sullivan, for whom he would later serve as an assistant. He served as an assistant as well to Hall of Fame jockey Bill Shoemaker throughout his training career and took over as head trainer for Shoemaker's clients when he retired in 1988. Gallagher had his first kentucky Derby starter in 2003 when he saddled Domestic Dispute to a 10th place finish; that charge also took Gallagher to Dubai for a 6th place finish in th Dubai World Cup after capturing the Strub (GII). Other prominent horses trained by Paddy Gallagher include Walkslikeaduck, McCann's Mojave, Tucked Away and Three Degrees.Jockey: Alex Solis
Alex Solis was born on March 25, 1964 in Panama City, Panama. He currently resides in Glendora, California. He began riding in Panama at a jockey school and won his first race in that country in 1981. He stepped onto the national scene when he won the 1986 Preakness aboard Snow Chief; he again made headlines in 1996 when he rode Dare and Go to upset Cigar in the Pacific Classic, ending Cigar's 16-race winning streak. He has also ended other notable winning streaks, piloting Victory Gallop to victory in the 1998 Arkansas Derby ending Favorite Trick's nine-race undefeated streak, and Got Koko to defeated Azeri and ending that champion's 11-race win streak. His biggest wins to date have come abaord Pleasently Perfect when he won the Dubai World Cup and Breeders' Cup Classic. Solis has ridden in fifteen editions of the Kentucky Derby without finding the winners' circle; he has finished second in the race three times. Charles Winner was born on August 18, 1940 in Los Angeles. He currently resides in Beverly Hills, California. Winner in involved with two businesses; one operates solely in ballot measure campaigns while the other provides communications services. He has over 30 horses in training with Frankel, Drysdale and Gallagher and has been involved in the sport since 1986.David Bienstock was born in 1943 in New York City and currently resides in Beverly Hills, California. He operates a company involved in political media placements. He has been involved in racing since 1994.
Domestic Dispute was the first Kentucky Derby starter for both Winner & Bienstock. He was purchased by the partnership just prior to the 2003 Kentucky Derby and went on to finish 10th.
