SUNDAY SILENCE broke into FAULTLESS ENSIGN, was steadied when NORTHERN WOLF angled over soon after the start and got a good position between horses racing to the first turn, moved out in front of EASY GOER approaching the backstretch, made a run from the outside when asked nearing the stretch and proved clearly best while swerving under pressure during the drive. EASY GOER, bothered when NORTHERN WOLF angled over shortly after the start, remained in hand while well out in the track into the backstretch, rallied while between horses leaving the far turn and continued on gamely to gain the place after moving to the inside of DANSIL leaving the furlong grounds. AWE INSPIRING, outrun early, came out from between horses to make a run approaching the stretch, continued wide into the drive and finished with good energy. DANSIL, never far back, made a run between horses approaching the stretch, remained a factor to midstretch while drifting out but wasn't good enough. HAWKSTER, badly outrun to the far turn, raced nine wide into the stretch while moving and was going well at the finish. NORTHERN WOLF angled over bothering EASY GOER and IRISH ACTOR while being hustled along early, remained close up while racing outside the leaders, made a bid between horses leaving the far turn and weakened during the late stages. IRISH ACTOR, caught in tight quarters soon after the start, raced between horses much of the way and failed to seriously menace while making up some ground late. HOUSTON had speed from the start, raced well out from the rail while making the pace, held a narrow lead into the stretch and gave way. TRIPLE BUCK raced wide after breaking slowly. SHY TOM saved ground to no avail. WIND SPLITTER failed to reach serious contention while racing well out in the track. FLYING CONTINENTAL tired while saving ground. CLEVER TREVOR, away alertly from the inside, saved ground while prompting the pace to the far turn and stopped badly. FAULTLESS ENSIGN, bumped by SUNDAY SILENCE, after the start, was always outrun. WESTERN PLAYBOY showed nothing. Post time was delayed when TRIPLE BUCK returned to the paddock to have a shoe reset. Scratched - Notation.
