Fire From the Post

The moment we have all been waiting for is about to happen. The paddock will be shoulder to shoulder with beautiful people as the jockeys approach the three year olds as they put tack on their backs.

With a leg up and snap of the helmet clasp, each jockey is listening to a short pep talk as they begin to walk to the dirt track.

With the scratch of I Want Revenge, my excitement heats up as I visualize Friesan Fire take the 135th Garland of Roses. However, I would be extremely happy to see General Quarters take home the trophy also. GQ is not only a beautiful dark gray horse, but his owner takes care of him all alone.

As GQ is his first thoroughbred in the Derby, he walks him, bathes him, wraps him, feeds him, and gives him TLC all the time.

Whoever wins this Derby deserves it... The attention of the fans, the celebrity draw, the fashionably iconic attraction... These are all things the Kentucky Derby winner is deserving of. All twenty horses for that matter!

May the best thoroughbred win!

Happy Derby!
