Pedigree

Flying Private is by 2000 Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus and is out of a mare by 1990 Derby winner Unbridled, who is also the sire of 1996 Derby winner Grindstone. A son of legendary sire Mr. Prospector, Fusaichi Pegasus' best offspring include 2007 champion Australian three-year-old Haradasun, 2005 Haskell Invitational (G1) hero Roman Ruler, 2005 Blue Grass (G1) victor Bandini and 2005 Belmont S. (G1) runner-up Andromeda's Hero. When coupled with the right mare, his offspring should be able to handle 10 furlongs.

Starter Analysis

D. Wayne Lukas trainee earned his way into the Derby field with a runner-up finish in the Lane's End S. (G2), but Flying Private will need to improve significantly off a fifth in the Arkansas Derby (G2) last time to challenge. He'll break near the outside rail (post 20) with new jockey Robby Albarado, and the maiden winner doesn't own good BRIS Speed ratings.

I like this horse a lot!! Lukas doesn't bring donkeys to the Derby and Watchman and Privan are snobs saying Flying Private doesn't have a prayer. Albarado is the best jockey to bring a long shot home and at least onto the board, look at the breeding!! Flying Private is actually related to Pioneer of the Nile whom I think is a very good Polytrack specialist. Hello?? Churchill Downs is dirt, Dirt, DIRT!!! Anybody know the difference?? Remember when Curlin ran subpar in The Classic(under Robby Albarado) and afterwards Steve ASmuusen said "This was a race contested on Turf(ProRide)!"...and, he's right. I think if Flying Private hadn'r checked briefly in THe Arkansas Derby, he woulda come up for 2nd or 3rd. No matter, Lukas and his horse are in. Go ahead, throw him out, it'll just make my exotics juicier!!...hey anybody seen Steve Scroggins lately?? Is he at the barn of Imperial Council talking about future races???LOLOLOL!!!
