Lynn Whiting
• Born June 28, 1939 in Great Falls, Montana.
• In 1992 won the Kentucky Derby with Lil E. Tee.
• Has made two other appearances in the Kentucky Derby with At The Threshold in 1984 (3rd) and Phantom on Tour in 1997 (6th).
• Opened his public stable in November 1968.
• Whiting’s first winner came in 1969 at Lincoln Downs with a horse by the name of Fortunatus.
• Learned the business from his father Lyle, who was a jockey and trainer in the early 1920s.
• Ranks on the top ten of leading trainers at Churchill Downs in the track history.
• Has trained top runners Clever Allmont, Karen’s Tom, Classy Irene, Sway, and Hyper and Saucy.
• Was featured in the book “The Longest Shot: Lil E. Tee and the Kentucky Derby”.
• Last May became the 10th trainer to win 300 races at Churchill Downs.
• Based in the Midwest, chiefly at Churchill Downs and Oaklawn Park.
