DERBY-PIE was born nearly a half century ago as the specialty pastry of the Melrose Inn, at Prospect, Ky. Derby-Pie ® has become the signature Kentucky Derby dessert.
By 1968 DERBY-PIE® had
become so successful that the name was registered with the U.S. Patent Office and the Commonwealth of Kentucky (that's the reason for the ®!). Since then it has been baked and distributed solely by Kern's Kitchen, a small family operation in Louisville.
Made from a secret family recipe, Derby-Pie ® combines rich semi-sweet chocolate with English walnuts for a truly decadent experience.
You can find DERBY-PIE® products at many fine restaurants and specialty stores in the Louisville area, or you can have it delivered to your door. You can order a nine-inch pie fully cooked, ready to warm and serve, or freeze or later use. This portion typically serves eight to 10 people.
