Horse Greeley--Bend, by Arch
Clearly Now inherits speed from his sire, but the maternal half of his pedigree affords more stamina.
He is from the first crop of Horse Greeley, whose best performances in his brief career came at seven furlongs. The winner of the Del Mar Futurity at two, Horse Greeley raced only twice at three, finishing third in the Malibu in his final start. His top performer so far is Really Mr Greely, successful in last fall's Hollywood Prevue.
Clearly Now is out of the multiple stakes-placed Bend, who spent virtually all of her career on turf.
Bend is by Arch, the 1998 Super Derby winner and the sire of Blame, who upset Zenyatta in the 2010 Breeders' Cup Classic.
Arch is becoming a first-rate broodmare sire. His daughters have produced Uncle Mo, the champion two-year-old colt of 2010, and I'll Have Another, star of last year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness.
Bend is the only runner produced by the stakes-placed Stint, a daughter of the inaugural 1984 Breeders' Cup Classic victor Wild Again.
