Magic City Thoroughbred Partners
Magic City Thoroughbred Partners is made up of two racing neophytes, Carter Stewart and Ken Schlenker from Billings Montana. The two friends are in the oil business and Magic City is the nickname for Billings. They owned a few cheaper horses that raced at a now defunct race track in Montana but dreamed as everyone does of once making it to the Kentucky Derby. They had seen the success of small partnerships that campaigned popular Derby winners Funny Cide and Mine That Bird and thought why not them too. Beginners luck kicked in quickly when their Golden Ticket, a $100,000 purchase, dead heated for a win in the 2012 G-1 Travers Stakes a race they had never heard of until a few days before it's running. They now own more than 15 horses and may find themselves at the Derby in 2013 with Frac Daddy.
