Trainer

Hailing from Surrey, England, Hall of Fame trainer Neil Drysdale trained Fusaichi Pegasus to vistory in the 2000 Kentucky Derby as well as 1980 Kentucky Oaks winner Bold 'n Determined and 1983 winner Princess Rooney.  Drysdale also trained Blemont Stakes winner A.P. Indy to the 1992 Horse of the Year Award, and has sattled sever Breeders' Cup winners in his career. Other notable horses he has trined include: Hollywood Wildcat, Tasso and War Chant.

Like many other top jockeys, Desormeaux is a product of Louisiana and started his riding career at Evangeline Downs. He has won the Kentucky Derby on three occasions guiding Real Quiet in 1998, Fusaichi Pegasus in 2000, and Big Brown in 2008. Desormeaux was inducted into racing’s Hall of Fame in 2004 and has won the Eclipse Award for top jockey three times. Other top horses include Paddy O'Prado, Summer Bird, Dullahan, and C. S. Silk.

Los Alamitos Futurity Added to 2014-15 'Road to the Kentucky Derby' Series

The $500,000 Los Alamitos Futurity (Grade I) has been added to the list of races that comprise the 2014-15 “Road to the Kentucky Derby.” The series of 35 select races – 19 “Prep Season” races and 16 “Championship Series” races – will determine which horses qualify to the 141st running of the $2 million guaranteed Kentucky Derby.
