Larry Jones trained 2011 Horse of the Year Havre De Grace who defeated the males in the G-1 Woodward Stakes. A native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, he has had success in the Kentucky Oaks with victories by Believe You Can in 2012 and Proud Spell in 2008. Jones just missed winning the Kentucky Derby in back-to-back years as Hard Spun and Eight Belles both ran second in 2007 and 2008. Jones has also trained top horses Friesan Fire, Island Sand, Old Fashioned, Mr. Bowling, Joyful Victory, and Mark Valeski.

Porter became interested in racing after attending races at Delaware Park as a youth. He named his racing stable Fox Hill Farms after a home he purchased in Delaware in 1989. Fox Hill Farms has had two second place finishers in the Kentucky Derby with Hard Spun and Eight Belles in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Hard Spun would also finish second in the Preakness Stakes and the Breeders' Cup Classic. Havre De Grace took the stable to the highest of racing honors when voted 2011 Eclipse Champion Horse of the Year. Her campaign included victories in the Apple Blossom, Beldame and a win over males in the Woodward Stakes at Saratoga. Other top runners include Round Pond the winner of the 2006 Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic, Joyful Victory, Kodiak Kowboy,Jostle, Friesan Fire, Old Fashioned, and Rockport Harbor.

Los Alamitos Futurity Added to 2014-15 'Road to the Kentucky Derby' Series

The $500,000 Los Alamitos Futurity (Grade I) has been added to the list of races that comprise the 2014-15 “Road to the Kentucky Derby.” The series of 35 select races – 19 “Prep Season” races and 16 “Championship Series” races – will determine which horses qualify to the 141st running of the $2 million guaranteed Kentucky Derby.
