K.K. and Devi Jayaraman

The Jayaraman’s are both retired doctors that have found a love for horse racing. The couple has found great success in the thoroughbred industry going back to one of their first horses who was a graded stakes winner. Their most outstanding racehorse is Summer Bird who they bred and owned. Summer Bird finished sixth in the 2009 Kentucky Derby before going on to win the Belmont Stakes as well as the Travers and Jockey Club Gold Cup.

Run Away and Hide--Heavens Passport, by Awesome Again

Heaven's Runway figures to prefer shorter distances than the Derby's 1 1/4 miles.

He is from the first crop of the speedy Run Away and Hide, who was undefeated from just three career starts at age two in 2008. A son of classy sprinter City Zip, Run Away and Hide was an impressive debut winner at Keeneland who went on to add the Kentucky Breeders' Cup Stakes and the Saratoga Special to his brief resume.

Run Away and Hide has gotten off to a promising start at stud with a handful of stakes performers. Heaven's Runway ranks as his leading earner so far, closely followed by Summer Stakes runner-up Are You Kidding Me.

Heaven's Runway is a half-brother to Holy Heavens, winner of the one-mile Martha Washington Stakes who also placed in the Honeybee and Fantasy in 2011.

They were produced by the winning Heavens Passport. Although sired by 1 1/4-mile supremo Awesome Again, Heavens Passport took after the distance-challenged maternal side of her pedigree.

Heavens Passport's dam is the multiple Canadian stakes-placed Up and Above, a daughter of sprinters Mt. Livermore and A Dream Above.
