Ike and Dawn Thrash

Owner

Reside in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Own and run Dawn Properties, Inc. in Hattiesburg. They build, buy, and sell apartment complexes. The couple got their first horse as payment on a business deal from a farm in Florida over 30 years ago. They bred a few mares in Kentucky, but primary focus is buying yearlings and two-year-olds in training. Began sending horses to John Sadler, after Hurricane Katrina and Fair Grounds closed for one season. • The husband and wife team often fly to California to see their horses run. They name their horses after family members. For example: Dave in Dixie is named for their son-in-law and Emmy Darling was named for their grand-daughter. Campaigned Dawn After Dawn to a win in the 2008 Grade II La Canada Stakes and a third to Eclipse Champion Zenyatta in the Grade I Vanity Handicap in 2009. She was fourth in the 2007 edition of the Kentucky Oaks. Top runners have included: Hurricane Ike, Third Dawn, Via Verde, and Dawn Before Dawn.
