Hall of Fame conditioner Bob Baffert won the Kentucky Derby back-to-back in 1997 and 1998 with Silver Charm and Real Quiet, and again in 2002 with War Emblem. He has saddled 24 horses in the Run for the Roses through 2014. The silver-haired trainer has also captured the Preakness Stakes a record-tying five times and earned the Eclipse Award for outstanding trainer three times. Baffert has saddled two Kentucky Oaks winners, Silverbulletday and Plum Pretty. In total, he has sent out the winners of nine Triple Crown races and 10 Breeders’ Cup events.
Like many other top jockeys, Desormeaux is a product of Louisiana and started his riding career at Evangeline Downs. He has won the Kentucky Derby on three occasions guiding Real Quiet in 1998, Fusaichi Pegasus in 2000, and Big Brown in 2008. Desormeaux was inducted into racing’s Hall of Fame in 2004 and has won the Eclipse Award for top jockey three times. Other top horses include Paddy O'Prado, Summer Bird, Dullahan, and C. S. Silk.
Mike Pegram is a sucessful restaurant fanchisee originally from Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Pegram is the owner of 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner and 3 year old champion colt Real Quiet. He also owns two time champion filly Silverbulletday who won the 1998 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and the 1999 Kentucky Oaks. He also owns 2001 Dubai World Cup winner Captain Steve.
