Schoolyard Dreams, 'Charly sharp in Tampa drills

At Tampa Bay Downs on Sunday, SCHOOLYARD DREAMS (Stephen Got Even) and UPTOWNCHARLYBROWN (Limehouse) turned in works for Saturday's Tampa Bay Derby (G3).

Sam F. Davis S. (G3) runner-up Schoolyard Dreams smoked four furlongs in a bullet :47 3/5, best of 64 works at the distance on the fast track.

Pasco S. romper Uptowncharlybrown, third in the Sam F. Davis, blasted three panels in :35 3/5 from the gate with his blinkers on.

According to, the Alan Seewald colt continued to gallop out through a half-mile in :47 3/5 and five furlongs in 1:00 1/5.

"I just want him to sharpen up, that's all," Seewald told the blog. "He's plenty fit, so I don't need to get a long work into him or anything like that. All I'm looking to do is get him sharp to where if we want to sit close (in the Tampa Bay Derby), we can sit close with him.

'That's the purpose of putting the blinkers on him, and also to get him to pay attention a little bit more. He didn't break that great in the last race, so I'm looking for him to break a lot sharper this time."

Seewald added that he was very happy with Sunday's work, saying, "I think it'll sharpen him up 100 percent."
