D-Day Veterans to Visit Kentucky Derby 139 Contender Normandy Invasion at Barn 42 On Kentucky Oaks Morning At 8:30 A.M.
Fox Hill Farm owner Rick Porter invited the Normandy veterans to attend the 2013 Kentucky Derby as his guests, and Porter will welcome the group for visit with Normandy Invasion at Churchill Downs’ Barn 42 at 8:30 a.m. (all times EDT).
Members of the media are invited and encouraged to attend.
Porter, a student of history, has a particular interest in the Battle of Normandy and was deeply moved by a visit to the invasion site. Two of the D-Day veterans invited to the Kentucky Derby and Friday’s private visit with Normandy Invasion by Porter hail from Ohio, and the others have traveled to Louisville from New Orleans and San Diego.
Normandy Invasion, who is trained by Chad Brown and will be ridden in the Kentucky Derby by Javier Castellano, is listed at odds of 12-1 in the Kentucky Derby morning line.
