In a Facebook posting Monday morning, trainer Doug O'Neill announced that Bond Holder would not contest Saturday's $350,000 Tampa Bay Derby as originally planned.

"Bond Holder is still recovering from the effects of his Fed Ex flight," O'Neill revealed. "He is walking sound. His foot is doing better and we remain day by day with him. Bond Holder hopefully will be on the track at the end of the week, and if all continues to go well will have his first work the following week

"We do not want to press him, so his next race is up in the air at this time. Bond Holder will remain at Tampa Bay Downs in the meantime."

Bond Holder was forced to miss the February 22 Risen Star at Fair Grounds after suffering negative effects from an airplane flight between Southern California and New Orleans.

The son of Mineshaft, who broke his maiden in the FrontRunner at Santa Anita last September, was subsequently fourth in both the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and CashCall Futurity.
